NBN Connection
Post date: Sep 22, 2018 10:5:45 PM
The NBN has now been available at the Lexington apartment complex for a few months.
The technology available is FTTB, which essentially means your modem will be connected to the phone line via VDSL.
If you had an ADSL connection before, you will simply get a new modem and connect it as before.
If you used to have internet through your cable, I believe this is no longer possible. Please contact your RSP (formerly known as ISP) to make arrangments to get switched to the NBN, since all old Internet connection methods will be discontinued some time in the next few months.
The steps you should follow:
Choose a RSP. If your current ISP is also a RSP, you will find the transition fairly seamless.
Choose a plan
Apply as per RSP requirements
Follow the RSPs instructions.
Be at home when the technician arrives. The Building Manager is not required to intervene at any stage of the process. The technician will require access to the MDF room. The technician generally knows the location and has a key to access it.
Please do not ask the Building Manager to follow up or look after any steps of this connection process, it is not required. Any issues with the RSP or the technician is between you and the service provider. If you can not be at home during the advised connection time, please arrange for a different time, or for a friend or neighbour to give access to your premises.
Best to inquire and follow directly on the NBN website:
